Where to Find the Best BBQ in Arlington, Mansfield, and Burleson, TX
Where to Find the Best BBQ in Arlington, Mansfield, and Burleson, TX
If there's one thing Texans take seriously, it's barbecue.
And I'm not just talking about throwing a few burgers on the grill. I'm talking about brisket that's been smoking for hours, ribs that barely need sauce, and the ongoing debate over who makes the best potato salad.
Here in South DFW, we're fortunate to have some fantastic barbecue restaurants. In fact, several of the barbecue joints around Arlington, Mansfield, and Burleson have earned recognition from Texas Monthly, the Michelin Guide, and national food publications.
I'm Stephanie Deeds, Broker/Owner of Point Realty, and one of the things John and I enjoy about living and working in South DFW is discovering the local restaurants that give each community its personality.
So whether you're new to the area, visiting family, or just looking for somewhere different to grab lunch this weekend, here are some BBQ spots worth putting on your list.
Best BBQ in Arlington, TX
Arlington might be known for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, but there's some seriously good barbecue beyond the stadiums.
1. Hurtado Barbecue — Downtown Arlington
If you haven't heard of Hurtado Barbecue, this is one you'll want to know about.
Located on Front Street in Downtown Arlington, Hurtado combines traditional Central Texas barbecue with Mexican-inspired flavors.
You'll find classics like smoked brisket and ribs, but also creative dishes like birria tacos and brisket tostadas.
And this isn't just a local favorite. Hurtado earned a spot on Texas Monthly's prestigious Top 50 BBQ Joints list in 2021 and received an honorable mention in 2025.
It's a great option if you love traditional barbecue but want to try something a little different.
And because it's in Downtown Arlington, you can easily make an afternoon out of exploring the surrounding restaurants and businesses.
Location: 205 E. Front Street, Arlington
2. Smoke'N Ash BBQ — South Arlington
Now here's a barbecue restaurant that's doing something completely different.
Smoke'N Ash blends Texas barbecue with Ethiopian cuisine.
Yes, you read that correctly!
Think slow-smoked Texas meats paired with Ethiopian spices, sauces, and traditional dishes.
And their unique approach has attracted national attention.
Smoke'N Ash was featured among The New York Times' best new restaurants in 2022, received Michelin Guide recognition in 2024, and earned a Texas Monthly honorable mention in 2025.
It's the kind of place I'd recommend to someone who thinks they've already tried every style of barbecue.
Located on South Cooper Street, it's also convenient for residents of South Arlington and Mansfield.
Location: 5904 S. Cooper Street, Arlington
3. 225° BBQ — Arlington
Another interesting stop is 225° BBQ, located on East Main Street.
This restaurant combines traditional smoked meats with Mexican-inspired dishes, including creative options such as brisket elote and birria-inspired specialties.
If you're someone who likes experimenting beyond a standard sliced-brisket plate, this is one to consider.
Location: 601 E. Main Street, Arlington
Best BBQ in Mansfield, TX
Mansfield has grown tremendously over the years, and its restaurant scene continues to give residents more choices without having to drive into Dallas or Fort Worth.
4. Hurtado Barbecue — Mansfield
One of the exciting additions to Mansfield's BBQ options is Hurtado Barbecue on North Walnut Creek Drive.
If you've been wanting to try the popular Arlington restaurant without driving across town, this location makes it much easier.
You'll find the same combination of slow-smoked brisket, ribs, and Tex-Mex-inspired dishes that helped establish Hurtado's award-winning reputation.
For Mansfield residents, it's a convenient place to pick up barbecue for dinner or enjoy a casual meal with family.
Location: 226 N. Walnut Creek Drive, Mansfield
5. Goldee's Barbecue — Near Mansfield and Kennedale
Now, if we're talking about the best barbecue in South DFW, there's one place we absolutely cannot leave off this list.
Goldee's Barbecue.
Technically, Goldee's has a Fort Worth address, but it's located near Kennedale and is a convenient destination for residents of Mansfield and South Arlington.
And here's why this place is such a big deal.
Texas Monthly ranked Goldee's the No. 1 barbecue restaurant in Texas in 2021.
Then, in its 2025 rankings, Goldee's landed at No. 3 in the entire state.
It also earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition in 2024.
That's some serious recognition in a state where barbecue competition is practically a sport.
Goldee's is especially known for its brisket, ribs, sausage, and homemade sides.
But here's my advice: Don't assume you can show up whenever you want and get everything on the menu.
Popular barbecue restaurants like Goldee's can sell out, especially on weekends. Check their current operating hours and plan to arrive early.
If you're a serious brisket fan, this is absolutely one to put on your South DFW food bucket list.
Location: 4645 Dick Price Road, Fort Worth, near Kennedale
6. Jambo's Original BBQ Shack — Rendon Area
If you're looking for a more traditional, no-frills Texas barbecue experience, Jambo's Original BBQ Shack is worth knowing about.
Located along FM 1187 in the Rendon area, this is the kind of barbecue joint where the food takes center stage.
Jambo's is known for hearty portions, smoked meats, and oversized specialty items, including its loaded baked potatoes.
It's a good option when you're hungry and looking for something substantial.
Location: 5460 FM 1187, near Rendon
Best BBQ in Burleson, TX
Burleson has plenty of Texas personality, and that includes its barbecue restaurants.
7. Hard Eight BBQ — Burleson
If you've never been to Hard Eight BBQ, the ordering experience is part of what makes it memorable.
Rather than simply ordering a plate from a traditional restaurant counter, you get to see the meats at the pit and choose what you want.
There's brisket, ribs, sausage, and plenty of traditional sides.
It's especially fun when you have family visiting from out of state and want to introduce them to Texas barbecue.
Just remember that meats are often sold by weight, so your total can add up depending on how much you order.
Location: 220 N. Burleson Boulevard, Burleson
Award-Winning BBQ Worth the Drive
Now, if you're willing to venture a little farther outside Mansfield, Arlington, and Burleson, there are a few more barbecue restaurants that deserve a mention.
These spots have earned statewide recognition and make great destinations for a weekend BBQ adventure.
8. Panther City BBQ — Fort Worth
Panther City BBQ has become one of Fort Worth's recognized barbecue destinations.
The restaurant earned the No. 10 spot on Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ Joints list in 2021 and returned to the Top 50 in 2025.
Along with traditional Texas smoked meats, Panther City is known for incorporating Tex-Mex influences into its menu.
If you enjoy the creativity of places like Hurtado, this is another restaurant worth exploring.
Location: 201 E. Hattie Street, Fort Worth
9. Dayne's Craft Barbecue — Aledo
If you're willing to make a longer drive, Dayne's Craft Barbecue in Aledo is another standout.
Texas Monthly ranked Dayne's No. 7 in Texas in 2025.
That's impressive recognition considering how many excellent barbecue restaurants compete across the state.
Dayne's is known for carefully prepared smoked meats and creative sausage options.
For serious BBQ enthusiasts, it could be worth making a Saturday outing out of the trip.
Location: 100 S. Front Street, Aledo
10. Zavala's Barbecue — Grand Prairie
Grand Prairie has its own nationally recognized barbecue scene, and Zavala's is one restaurant worth checking out.
Zavala's earned a spot on Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ Joints list in 2021 and received an honorable mention in 2025.
The restaurant combines traditional Texas smoking techniques with Tex-Mex flavors.
And because Grand Prairie is part of the South DFW area we serve, it's another great option for residents who enjoy exploring restaurants outside their immediate neighborhood.
Location: Grand Prairie, TX
A Few BBQ Tips Before You Go
Here's something important to remember when exploring barbecue restaurants in Texas.
Some of the best places prepare a limited amount of meat each day.
And when it's gone, it's gone!
So if you're planning to visit a popular barbecue restaurant, especially on a Saturday, consider going earlier rather than waiting until late afternoon.
Also, don't be afraid to try something besides brisket.
I know brisket is practically a Texas requirement, but sometimes the sausage, turkey, ribs, or specialty sides end up being the thing you remember most.
And if you're visiting with a group, ordering several meats and sides to share is a great way to sample more of the menu.
Restaurant hours, menus, and availability can change, so check directly with each restaurant before heading out.
Why Local Restaurants Matter When Choosing Where to Live
One thing I always tell people relocating to the Dallas–Fort Worth area is that choosing the right community goes beyond finding the right house.
It's also about what you enjoy doing when you're not at home.
Maybe that's meeting friends for barbecue in Downtown Arlington.
Maybe it's picking up dinner in Mansfield after a busy workday.
Or maybe it's spending a Saturday exploring restaurants and shops around Burleson.
Those little things become part of your everyday life.
And when John and I help buyers explore Mansfield, Arlington, Burleson, Midlothian, and the surrounding South DFW communities, we love sharing the local places that make these cities feel like home.
